Project Date

FY 2020

Issue

To obtain 2200 tons of chilled water with the best efficiency and in the smallest possible space, double-walled air handlers that guarantee air quality while adhering to the architectural design and concept. Additionally, corrosion protection in the coils of the air handlers as well as in the chiller.

Solution

Daikin BOD

THE SOLUTION

Daikin has the largest air-cooled chiller in the industry, 550 tons, unique in the market. The competition does not have equipment with that capacity and they need more units to reach it. This project started with Daikin two years before the purchase, where the Applied product office in the Dominican Republic worked closely with the designer in the selection of AHUs and chiller equipment. As an added value we count locally with highly qualified Service Engineers who support the entire operation of chilled water plants in the Dominican Republic. In a strategic alliance with SAEG Engineering member of the Daikin group, we presented a unique value proposition that the competition could not improve.

THE RESULTS

By having access to all parties involved owner, client, consultants, business and industrial partners we were able to offer a solution way better than our competitors, with local support and with our one of a kind chiller option that only Daikin could’ve offered. We should focus more on the duty free market, especially the Medical Devices, with specific strategies for that niche. Daikin service has a great competitive advantage an excellent value propositions.

About COVID-19

This project was completed during the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic which led us to a sudden shift in the dynamics of our workforce behavior. A lot of companies were bound to rush towards work from home including ours, so we decided to make arrangements in an extremely short period to address the urgency of this project. Ironically, COVID-19 gave us an additional push to make this challenge a well-accomplished project. At Daikin we are convinced that supporting our partners with effort and talent allow us to achieve any goal.
